મહાશિવરાત્રી 

ભગવાન શિવજીનો જન્‍મદિવસ શિવરાત્રી તરીકે ઉજવવામાં આવે છે. વર્ષની ફાગણ વદની (ફેબ્રુઆરી અને માર્ચ) છ રાત્રીઓ દરમિયાન ઉજવવામાં આવે છે. મહાશિવરાત્રીની રાત્રીએ ભગવાન શિવજી તાંડવ  નૃત્‍ય કરે છે. પૌરાણીક કથાઓ અનુસાર આ નૃત્‍ય ભગવાન શિવજીએ ‘પાર્વતીજી’ સાથે લગ્‍ન કરેલા ત્‍યારે આ શિવરાત્રીનું પર્વ ઉજવાયું હતું. ગુજરાતના તમામ સ્‍થળોએ ‘મહાશિવરાત્રી’ નું પર્વ ખૂબ જ હર્ષ - ઉલ્‍લાસ સાથે ઉજવાય છે. ભગવાન શિવજીની અર્ચના-પૂજન દૂધના અભિષેક અને બિલિપત્રના ત્રિદલ - પર્ણોને અર્પણ કરી કરવામાં આવે છે. આ દિવસે ભક્તો ઉપવાસ રાખે છે અને રાત્રી જાગરણ કરી શિવભક્તિ તન્‍મય બને છે.

ભારતભરનાં મંદિરો ૩૦ લાખથી પણ વધુ શિવજીના પ્રતીકાત્‍મક સ્‍વરૂપ ‘લીંગ’ ના સ્‍વરૂપો સ્‍થપાયેલા છે. તમામ લીંગ સ્‍વરૂપે શિવજી બિરાજમાન હોય છે. શિવજીના મુખ્‍ય બાર જ્યોર્તિલીંગો ભારતભરમાં આવેલાં છે. તેના દર્શન પૂજનથી માનવીના છેલ્‍લા સાત જન્‍મોના પાપો બળી ભસ્‍મ થાય છે અને નિર્મળ અને નિષ્‍પાપ બની ધન્‍યતા અનુભવે છે.

બાર જ્યોર્તિલીંગોમાંથી પ્રથમ જ્યોર્તિલીંગ ગુજરાતના પશ્ચિમ કિનારે સૌરાષ્‍ટ્રના દરિયાકાંઠે વેરાવળ સ્‍થિત સોમનાથ મંદિર આવેલું છે. ધાર્મિક યાત્રાળુ માટે સોમનાથ મંદિર શ્રદ્ધા અને આસ્‍થાનું કેન્‍દ્ર છે. સોમનાથ ભગવાન એટલે ચંદ્રના નાથ.

ભગવાન શિવજીનું મંદિર સોમનાથ તેની ભવ્‍યતા અને સમૃદ્ધિ માટે વિશ્વમાં સૈકાઓથી પ્રચલીત છે. મોગલ સમ્રાટોએ સોમનાથ પર છ-છ વાર ચઢાઇ કરી તેનો વિધ્‍વંશ કરવાના પ્રયત્‍નો કર્યા. પરંતુ દરેક વિધ્‍વંશ બાદ તેનું નિર્માણ થતું રહ્યું. આજે શિવજીના મંદિર એવા સોમનાથ તેની ભવ્‍યતા, અખંડિતતા અને આસ્‍થાના કેન્‍દ્ર તરીકે વિશ્વભરમાં વિખ્‍યાત છે.

સોમનાથ મંદિરનું સ્‍થાપત્‍ય વિજ્ઞાન અને સ્‍થાપત્‍યકળાનો સમન્‍વય છે. સોમાનાથ મંદિર સંકુલમાં નકશીકામ - કોતરણીકામના બેનમૂન સ્‍થાપત્‍યો તેમજ નિર્માણ કાર્યો જોવા મળે છે. ગુજરાતમાં સલાહ કામગીરીમાં નિપૂણતા ધરાવતા ‘સોમપુરા’ જ્ઞાતિબંધુઓએ આ મંદિરના સ્‍થાપત્‍યકળામાં તેમનું કૌવત બનાવ્‍યું છે

શિવરાત્રીની ઊજવણી વખતે શ્રદ્ધાળુઓ મોટી સંખ્યામાં સોમનાથ આવે છે. અહીં મુખ્‍ય તહેવાર ‘મહાશિવરાત્રી’ નો ઉજવાય છે. તેનું આયોજન રાજ્ય સરકાર આ સમયગાળા દરમિયાન કચ્‍છ રણ ઉત્‍સવની સાથે કરે છે. આ ઉપરાંત કાર્તિકી પૂર્ણિમાના દિવસોમાં ‘સોમનાથ’ ખાતે ભવ્‍ય મેળાનું આયોજન કરવામાં આવે છે. (ન્‍વે. - ડિસે.) આ ઉપરાંત ‘શિવરાત્રી’ પર્વની ઊજવણી ‘ભવનાથ’ મહાદેવ ખાતે કરવામાં આવે છે. જૂનાગઢ જિલ્‍લામાં ગિરનાર પર્વતની તળેટીમાં આવેલું શિવજીનું ભવ્‍ય શીવમંદિર ખાતે મહાશીવરાત્રી પર્વના પાંચ દિવસ મેળો ભરાય છે.

‘ભવનાથ’ ખાતે પવિત્ર મૃગકુંડમાં શ્રદ્ધાળુઓ પવિત્ર સ્‍નાન કરી નિષ્‍પાપ બને છે. હજારોની સંખ્‍યામાં આ પવિત્ર સ્‍થાનમાં દર્શન માટે યાત્રીઓ આવે છે. મહાશિવરાત્રીના મહાસ્‍નાન બાદ મહાપૂજાની ભવ્‍ય યાત્રા નીકળે છે. જેમાં હજારોની સંખ્‍યામાં દર્શનાર્થીઓ, નાગા બાવાઓ, ભજન મંડળીઓ, સાધુ-સંતો અને નગરજનો જોડાય છે. અહીં સૌથી ધ્‍યાનાકર્ષક અને રોમાંચનો અનુભવ કરાવતી ઘટના એ નાગાબાવાઓના મુખ્‍ય મહંતની હાથી પર નીકળતી સવારી અને તેની પાછળ ધજાપતાકાઓ સાથે તેના અનુયાયીઓ નિહાળવાનો લાહવો અલૌકીક હોય છે. આ મેળામાં ભવાઇ, રાસગરબા, ડાયરો વગેરેની જમાવટ યાત્રાળુને આકર્ષિત કરે છે.

Maha Shivratri in Mauritius

Mahashivratri is a highly revered holiday in Mauritius. A month prior to the festival, pilgrims begin their preparations here. People from diverse societies around the island spend a lot of effort for Shivaratri preparations. Sometimes they spend the entire night making exquisitely adorned "Kanwars," which they take on their journey to Grand Bassin, also called "Ganga Taloa."Pandit Gosain Naipaul made the discovery of the Ganga Talao, a crater lake with a tiny island in the center, 108 years ago. We are commemorating the discovery's 108th anniversary this year. A "Maha Shiv Katha" has been planned in this regard. In the 1960s, holy water from the Ganga was poured into the lake to make it hallowed.

About 5,000 pilgrims are welcomed at Montagne Blanche's "Umanath Mandir," one of the island's most significant mandirs, which provides them with food and lodging while they go to the holy lake. All around the island, processions are planned on the eve of the Shivratri holiday. On the day of the festival, the prayer begins at 4:00 am with "Shiv Abhishek," and throughout the day, a great number of devotees swarm the area to present Lord Shiva with fruits and holy water from the Ganga Talao in the temples.

Following the afternoon session is "Char Pahar ki Pooja." The pooja ceremony starts at 6.00 pm with the first Pahar. Maha Abhishek is performed by the acharya. The second, third, and fourth paharis are scheduled for 9:00 p.m., 12:00 p.m., and 3 a.m., respectively. The holy pooja culminates with a ′Maha Yagya′ approximately 6:00 am next day.
On each pahar, devotees recite the Maha mantra "Om Namah Shivaye" 18, 216, 324, and 452 times, respectively. The ′Shivalay′ is filled with holy hymns and bhajans throughout the night. The "Tandava" and plays about Lord Shiva are performed by certain artists and communities.

As a result, Shivaratri brings the island's Hindu population together. In Mauritius, it is one of the events that is observed with such fervor.

 Mahakumbh 2025 :

પ્રયાગરાજમાં શ્રદ્ધાનો મહાકુંભ પોષ પૂર્ણિમા 2025ના રોજ, 13 જાન્યુઆરી 2025થી શરૂ થઇ અને 26 ફેબ્રુઆરી 2025ના રોજ મહાશિવરાત્રીના દિવસે પૂર્ણ થશે. આ મહાકુંભ મેળો દર 12 વર્ષે એકવાર યોજાય છે. મહાકુંભમાં, વિશ્વભરના સંતો, ઋષિઓ અને ભક્તો શ્રદ્ધાથી પવિત્ર નદીઓમાં સ્નાન કરીને આધ્યાત્મિક મુક્તિ પ્રાપ્ત કરવા માટે ઉમટે છે. આ મેળામાં શાહી સ્નાનનું વિશેષ મહત્વ છે, જેને અમૃત સ્નાન તરીકે ઓળખવામાં આવે છે. એવી માન્યતા છે કે શાહી સ્નાન દરમિયાન નદીમાં સ્નાન કરવાથી ભક્તોના પાપ ધોવાઇ જાય છે અને તેઓ પુણ્ય પ્રાપ્ત કરે છે.

મહાકુંભ 2025 પહેલા કુંભ મેળાનું આયોજન

મહાકુંભ 2025 પહેલા, 2021માં ધાર્મિક શહેર હરિદ્વારમાં કુંભ મેળાનું આયોજન કરવામાં આવ્યું હતું. આ મેળો સામાન્ય રીતે 4 મહિના સુધી ચાલે છે, પરંતુ 2021માં કોરોના મહામારીના સંકટને કારણે માત્ર 30 દિવસ માટે કુંભનું આયોજન કરાયું હતું. 1 એપ્રિલ 2021થી 30 એપ્રિલ 2021 સુધી આ મહાકુંભ યોજાયો. હરિદ્વારમાં કુંભ મેળાનું આયોજન દર 12 વર્ષે કરવામાં આવે છે. જ્યારે ગુરુ કુંભ રાશિમાં હોય છે અને સૂર્ય મેષ રાશિમાં હોય છે ત્યારે આ મેળો યોજાય છે.

હરિદ્વારમાં મહાકુંભ અને આગામી આયોજન

હરિદ્વારમાં આગામી મહાકુંભનું આયોજન 2033માં કરવામાં આવશે. 2033માં, દેવગુરુ ગુરુ 17-18 માર્ચની મધ્યરાત્રિએ કુંભ રાશિમાં પ્રવેશ કરશે. આ મહાકુંભના મુખ્ય શાહી સ્નાનની તારીખો આ પ્રકારની હશે:

• 28 ફેબ્રુઆરી 2033: પહેલું શાહી સ્નાન
• 30 માર્ચ 2033: બીજું શાહી સ્નાન
• 14 એપ્રિલ 2033: સંક્રાંતિ અને પૂર્ણિમા સ્નાન
• 1 મે 2033: અક્ષય તૃતીયાનું શાહી સ્નાન

શ્રદ્ધાના આ તહેવારનું ધાર્મિક મહત્વ

મહાકુંભ મેળો માત્ર એક ધાર્મિક અને આધ્યાત્મિક તહેવાર જ નથી, પરંતુ સાંસ્કૃતિક અને આધ્યાત્મિક સંસ્કારનું પ્રતિક છે. અહીં શ્રદ્ધાળુઓ પવિત્ર નદીઓમાં સ્નાન કરીને પોતાનું શુદ્ધિકરણ કરે છે અને આધ્યાત્મિક શાંતિ મેળવે છે. ઉલ્લેખનીય છે કે, મહાકુંભ 2025 વિશ્વભરના લાખો ભક્તો માટે આકર્ષણનું કેન્દ્ર બનશે, જ્યાં શ્રદ્ધાનું મહાસંગમ જોવા મળશે.

વૈશ્વિક સ્તરે વિશ્વ રેડિયો દિવસ (World Radio) દર વર્ષે 13 ફેબ્રુઆરીએ ઉજવવામાં આવે છે. આ વખતની થીમ રાખવામાં આવી છે ‘ઈવોલ્યુશન – ધ વર્લ્ડ ઓલવેઝ ચેન્જિંગ’ એટલે કે વિકાસ સાથે વિશ્વ પણ વિકાસ કરી રહ્યું છે. આ રેડિયોની સુગમતા અને સ્થિરતા દર્શાવે છે. દુનિયા હંમેશા બદલાતી રહે છે, તેથી રેડિયો અનુકૂલન કરે છે અને નવીનતા લાવે છે. આ દિવસની ઉજવણી વર્ષ 2012માં શરૂ કરવામાં આવી હતી. વાસ્તવમાં, રેડિયો એ જનસંચારનું એકમાત્ર માધ્યમ છે જેના દ્વારા અત્યાર સુધી અસંખ્ય લોકો સુધી સંદેશા પહોંચાડવામાં આવ્યા છે. ખાસ કરીને ગામડાઓ, નગરો અને એવા સ્થળોએ રહેતા લોકો માટે જ્યાં અન્ય કોઈ સંદેશાવ્યવહારના માધ્યમો સુધી પહોંચવું સરળ નથી. આજે પણ આ સ્થળોએ રેડિયો સંદેશાવ્યવહારનું મુખ્ય માધ્યમ છે.

સમગ્ર વિશ્વમાં રેડિયોએ સમગ્ર વિશ્વમાં માહિતીની આપલે કરવામાં અને લોકોને શિક્ષિત કરવામાં મહત્વની ભૂમિકા ભજવી છે. તેનો ઉપયોગ યુવાનોને અસર કરતા વિષયોની ચર્ચામાં સામેલ કરવા માટે કરવામાં આવતો હતો. તે કુદરતી અને માનવસર્જિત આફતો દરમિયાન લોકોના અમૂલ્ય જીવન બચાવવામાં મદદ કરે છે. હાલમાં પણ તે માહિતીના પ્રસારનું સૌથી શક્તિશાળી અને સસ્તું માધ્યમ છે. જોકે રેડિયો સદીઓ જૂનું માધ્યમ બની ગયું છે, તેમ છતાં તેનો ઉપયોગ સંદેશાવ્યવહાર માટે થાય છે.

વિશ્વ રેડિયો દિવસ અભિવ્યક્તિની સ્વતંત્રતા, જાહેર ચર્ચા અને શિક્ષણના પ્રસારમાં રેડિયોના મહત્વને સમજાવવાના ઉદ્દેશ્ય સાથે ઉજવવામાં આવે છે. તે નિર્ણય લેનારાઓને રેડિયો દ્વારા માહિતી સ્થાપિત કરવા અને પ્રસારિત કરવા, નેટવર્કિંગ વધારવા અને બ્રોડકાસ્ટર્સ વચ્ચે એક પ્રકારનું આંતરરાષ્ટ્રીય સહયોગ પ્રદાન કરવા માટે પણ પ્રોત્સાહિત કરે છે.

વિશ્વ રેડિયો દિવસનો ઈતિહાસ

સ્પેન રેડિયો એકેડેમીએ સૌપ્રથમ 2010માં 13 ફેબ્રુઆરીએ વિશ્વ રેડિયો દિવસ ઉજવવાનો પ્રસ્તાવ મૂક્યો હતો. તે પછી વર્ષ 2011માં યુનેસ્કોના સભ્ય દેશો દ્વારા જાહેર કરવામાં આવ્યું હતું અને 2012માં સંયુક્ત રાષ્ટ્ર મહાસભા દ્વારા અપનાવવામાં આવ્યું હતું. આ પછી યુનેસ્કોએ આ દિવસને 13 ફેબ્રુઆરી 2012ના રોજ વિશ્વ રેડિયો દિવસ તરીકે પ્રથમ વખત ઉજવ્યો. ત્યારથી, વિશ્વ રેડિયો દિવસ આ દિવસે સમગ્ર વિશ્વમાં ઉજવવામાં આવે છે. હકીકતમાં, 13 ફેબ્રુઆરીએ સંયુક્ત રાષ્ટ્ર રેડિયોની વર્ષગાંઠ પણ છે. વર્ષ 1946માં આ દિવસે તેની શરૂઆત કરવામાં આવી હતી.

આ રીતે વિશ્વ રેડિયો દિવસ ઉજવવામાં આવે છે

દર વર્ષે યુનેસ્કો વિશ્વભરના બ્રોડકાસ્ટર્સ, સંસ્થાઓ અને સમુદાયો સાથે મળીને રેડિયો દિવસ નિમિત્તે વિવિધ પ્રવૃત્તિઓનું આયોજન કરે છે. ઉપરાંત આ દિવસે સંદેશાવ્યવહારના માધ્યમ તરીકે રેડિયોના મહત્વ વિશે ચર્ચા કરવામાં આવે છે અને જાગૃતિ ફેલાવવામાં આવે છે. એ પણ જણાવવામાં આવે છે કે રેડિયો એક એવી સેવા છે. જેના દ્વારા માત્ર રેડિયો ફ્રીક્વન્સી પર જ વાત કરી શકાતી નથી. તેના બદલે, આપત્તિ સમયે જ્યારે સંદેશાવ્યવહારના અન્ય માધ્યમો અટકી જાય છે ત્યારે અસરગ્રસ્તોને પણ મદદ કરી શકાય છે.

International Day of Sign Languages

Day 23 September - International Day of Sign Languages

On 23rd September, the UN General Assembly proclaimed the day as International Day of Sign Languages. The day provides a unique opportunity to support and protect the linguistic identity and cultural diversity of all deaf people and other sign language users.

September 23rd is indeed the International Day of Sign Languages (IDSL), recognized by the United Nations. This day aims to:

1. Raise awareness about sign languages and their importance.

2. Promote the rights of deaf and hard-of-hearing communities.

3. Recognize the unique cultural and linguistic identities of sign language users.

Theme for 2024: "Sign Languages Unite Us"

Objectives:

1. Encourage governments to recognize and support sign languages.

Day 13 September- International Chocolate Day

International Chocolate Day is celebrated on September 13 annually. The day was established by the U.S. National Confectioners Association. It commemorates the birth of Milton S. Hershey. He was an American chocolatier, businessman, and philanthropist.

Chocolate is one of the world’s favorite flavors, possibly THE most loved taste across 7 continents. This magic bean has been consumed by humans from as far back as 1900 BC, and was an integral part of the Aztec and Mayan civilisations and culture. Europeans combined it with milk and sugar, and with the Industrial Revolution and mass production, the modern era of chocolate began. Some references indicate that this day celebrates the introduction of chocolate to Europe in 1550. Though it originated in the Americas, today the small African country of Cote D’Ivoire produces 30% of the world’s cocoa. Everyone loves it, the recipes are endless and September 13th is celebrated as international chocolate day.
