The awards are conferred in three categories:


The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind on March 20, 2018 presented the Padma awards to 43 eminent personalities at a Civil Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The awards are conferred in three categories:

Padma Vibhushan: For exceptional and distinguished service.

Padma Bhushan: For distinguished service of high order.

Padma Shri: For distinguished service in any field.

The Awards are conferred to people belonging to various disciplines or fields including art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports and civil service.

This year, the second highest civilian award- the Padma Vibhushan was conferred upon three personalities including music composer Illaiyaraja, classical musician Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan and Hindutva thinker P. Parameswaran.

Indian seas and ocean

1. INDIA INDIA is surrounded by 3 oceans namely the Arabian Sea (west), Indian Ocean (south), Bay of Bengal (east).
2. THE INDIAN OCEAN The Indian Ocean is the third largest of the worlds oceanic divisions, covering approximately 20% of the water on theEarths surface
3. THE ARABIAN SEA The Arabian Sea is a region of the Indian Ocean bounded on on the north by Pakistan and Iran, on the south by northeastern Somalia, on the east by India and on the west by the Arabian Peninsula. Some of the ancient names of this body of water include Sindhu Sagar(meaning "Sea of Sindh" in Sanskrit) and Erythraean Sea.
4. THE BAY OF BENGAL The Bay of Bengal, the largest bay in the world, forms the northeastern part of the Indian Ocean. Roughly triangular in shape, it is bordered mostly by India and Sri Lanka to the west, Bangladesh to the north, and Burma (Myanmar) and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands to the east.
