It is celebrated on 11 and 12 August this year.
Janmashtami festival marks the birth of Lord Krishna who is lovingly known as
Kanha. He is considered as one of the most powerful human incarnations of the
Lord Vishnu. Dahi Handi is one of the most festive events of the Janmashtami
celebration.
12 August – International Youth Day
International Youth Day is celebrated on 12
August around the globe to focus on the development and protection of youth in
the society.
12 August: World Elephant Day
It is observed on 12 August annually to make
people understand to preserve and protect the giant animal elephant. This is
the way to bring the world together to help elephants.

Youm-e-Azadi or Pakistan Independence Day is
observed annually on 14 August. On this day Pakistan achieved Independence and
was declared a sovereign nation following the end of British rule in 1947.
