Day 15 August 2021: Independence Day, National Mourning Day (Bangladesh) & Day of Assumption of the Virgin Mary
Indian Independence Day is celebrated on 15th August. India
got independence from British rule on 15th August 1947, we will celebrate 73rd
Independence Day this year. This day is also considered as the gazetted holiday
in India.
In
Bangladesh, 15th August is observed as National Mourning Day as on this day
Bangladesh’s first President Sheikh Mujibur was assassinated along with his
family members.
Among
Christians, 15h Day is celebrated as the Assumption of the Virgin Mary,
believing that God assumed Virgin Mary into Heaven after her death and
celebrated in some parts of Europe and South America.
